Untitled dark comedy stars Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore

Nearly two decades after co-starring together in 1994's "Angels in the Outfield," Joseph Gordon-Levitt has tapped Tony Danza to play his father in his upcoming directorial debut, which co-stars Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore.

Dark comedy stars Gordon-Levitt as a porn-addicted, modern day Don Juan from New Jersey who sets out to become a less selfish person. Johansson will play Gordon-Levitt's girlfriend, while Danza is making a deal to play the protag's sports-loving father who doesn't pay enough attention to his family.

Gordon-Levitt wrote the script and his "Looper" producer Ram Bergman will produce with Nicolas Chartier, whose Voltage Pictures will finance the film. Production is skedded to start shooting next month in Los Angeles.

A television icon thanks to ABC's two hit series "Who's the Boss?" and "Taxi," Danza's last notable appearance on the bigscreen was as a Hollywood director in Paul Haggis' Oscar winner "Crash."

Danza is repped by Paradigm and manager Dan Farah.
